Dean on Abortion

By Alexander K. McClure ~ July 24th, 2005 @ 3:40 pm

One of interesting sights in modern American politics is Howard Dean trying to appeal to pro-life Democrats. The following is his oft-repeated mantra on the issue.

”The Republicans have painted us as a pro-abortion party. I don’t know anybody in America who is pro-abortion…”We do have to have a big tent. I do think we need to welcome pro-life Democrats into this party…’I think that we must be absolutely firm in being the party of individual freedom and personal freedom, which means that in the end the government doesn’t get to decide, we do.”

So, if you are pro-life, Howard believes you are against individual freedom and personal freedom. However, you are still acceptable in the Democratic Party. In essence, his message is: “You’re intolerant, but we still want your vote.”

I once thought that Dean had to be extremely arrogant or extremely stupid. I now am fairly confident he is both.
