Polipundit Predictions

Those who read Polipundit know that he, and occassionally some of the rest of us here, posts “eerily prescient” predictions from time to time. I guess that now includes Oak Leaf, as well.

In his piece posted here Friday, Oak Leaf made some predictions that went against the conventional wisdom about the recovery time New Orleans would require. His predictions seem to already be gaining confirmation by other sources.

Drudge Report, Friday September 9, 2005, at 19:52:35 ET:

PLAN TO REOPEN FRENCH QUARTER IN 90 DAYS; SCALED-DOWN MARDI GRAS ..
a scaled-down version of Mardi Gras, scheduled to take place at the end of February 2006.

New York Times, Saturday September 10, 2005:

New Orleans’s business leaders and power brokers are concocting big plans, the most important being reopening the French Quarter within 90 days.

PoliPundit.Com Friday, September 9, 2005 at 2:53 PM ET — exactly five hours before Drudge’s flashing siren scoop:

Predictions:

2. Pat O’Brien’s will be serving “Hurricanes” again before Thanksgiving of this year.

3. The Mardi Gras Carnival Parade will go on “as scheduled” for February 28, 2006.

Now how did Oak Leaf know that?
