Corporate Sharks
Folks, they’re treating their poor employees like chum in the waters:
The San Jose Mercury News plans to cut 51 jobs in its newsroom, a 17 percent reduction in staff, according to a memo Friday from a union representative working at the newspaper.
{gulp}
A 17 percent reduction in staff, huh?
And who’s the puppet master pulling those strings of despair?
Big print media, that’s who:
The newspaper is owned by Knight Ridder Inc. of San Jose, which said Tuesday that it would eliminate 100 newsroom jobs at its two papers in Philadelphia, the Inquirer and the Daily News, a cut of 16 percent.
Are they acting alone?
Nope:
Also Tuesday, the New York Times said it would eliminate 500 jobs. Last month, The [San Francisco] Chronicle said it would cut 120 jobs.
{sniff, sniff}
What will become of liberal utopia?
Who, pray tell, will look after the poor and the downtrodden?
What will become of the children?
The children . . . .
