NY-23 Poll

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Hell is being a pollster in NY-23.
However, whatever polling is still ongoing says Hoffman is at about 45%, and Owens isn’t even close.

Defending the NRCC

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Many on the right seem to think the NRCC is evil for having backed Dede Scozzafava. I disagree.
The NRCC had little choice in the matter. 11 Republican County Leaders settled on Scozzafava.
At that point, the Republican establishment could either have sat back and let the Democrat win, or supported a Republican who would vote for [...]

Dede’s Out!

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Scozzafava gracefully drops out.
Before she dropped out, Hoffman was already in a dead heat with Owens.

Is Joe Biden an Alcoholic?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Video of Biden at a campaign rally last year:

Biden singing:

Plus, he drank non-alcoholic beer at the “Beer Summit,” and has a history of alcoholism in his family.
I don’t think alcoholism is a disqualifier for the presidency; George W. Bush is a recovering alcoholic. But, if Biden is indeed an alcoholic, he needs to confront the [...]

Cash for golf carts

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Among the spending that is so crucial that Democrats see fit to pile trillions of dollars of debt onto future generations:
Free or almost free golf carts:
The federal credit provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle, and when it is combined with similar incentive plans in many states the tax credits [...]

NY-23 Debate

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The Most Boring Debate Ever, with the Worst Moderator in the World.
Hoffman came off like a weird alien, but most viewers probably tuned out after the boring first minutes about debate mechanics, and the next question on campaign mechanics. Hoffman will be hurt by his weirdness, but hopefully not too much.

Quote of the Day

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

NRCC Chair Pete Sessions (R-TX), on the possibility of Doug Hoffman becoming a Congressman:
“He would be very welcome, with open arms.”

A Trillion Here, a Trillion There…

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

And soon you’re talking real money:
The House Democratic health care reform bill will cost $1.055 trillion over the next decade but will still slash the federal deficit overall by $104 billion, according to a preliminary Congressional Budget Office score released late Thursday.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had touted the bill as costing $894 billion when she [...]

US Economy Out of Recession, Thank God

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It would have happened even under “President” McCain but you will not see it up on Drudge today;
The US economy has returned to growth in the third quarter, signalling the end of the worst recession in 70 years.
Based on history, there will be job growth before the 2010 election.
Based on history, long term IRA/401 (k) [...]

By the ultra-liberal DailyKos shows Hoffman and the Democrat neck-and-neck.

PelosiCare

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

If Nancy Pelosi’s bill becomes law, it will make liars of both these groups:
1. The dozens of liberals who pledged to vote against a bill unless it contained a robust public option.
2. The 23 Democrats who pledged to vote against any bill with a public option.

Economic Surprises ;)

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Some people love parades, I love economic surprises!! Good news from Germany and a signal that we are not far behind;
LONDON (MarketWatch) — The number of unemployed German workers fell by a seasonally-adjusted 26,000 in October, the country’s federal labor agency reported Thursday. Economists had forecast a rise of 15,000.
And Obama had nothing to [...]
