Washington Whispers says that GOPers are unhappy with pollster John Zogby: Republican leaders have put out a contract on pollster John Zogby. Known for his accuracy, the GOP says he got too many midterm congressional races wrong and provided bad advice. “He’s out,” says a top Senate GOP aide. Incoming House Majority Leader Tom DeLay [...]

In analyses of the 2002 election results, one topic hasn’t been explored very much: the idea that voters prefer divided government. Polls routinely show that voters favor “divided government” (one party has the Presidency, the other has Congress) by 2-1 margins. Why then did they vote for a unified GOP government? The shallow answer is [...]

Ron Brownstein says that Democrats will get an unwelcome geography lesson in 2004. I couldn’t agree more.

Political Wire reports that Asa Hutchinson may challenge Arkansas senator Blanche Lincoln in 2004. He’d be a stronger candidate than even governor Mike Huckabee, who was considering running. My complete 2004 Senate analysis is here.

Paul Krugman, who has a steady job penning Bush-hating diatribes in the New York Times, attempts to claim that Al Gore’s delusions about the “weird media” are true. He argues for stopping the few conservative voices in the liberal media by applying draconian government-bureaucrat measures to silence the voices of the people. When reading rants [...]

Louisiana football fans won’t have an LSU game to go to on December 7, the Senate race run-off date. That should bring out some more Terrell voters.

I hope someone’s collecting the “Republicans have it all; so now they’re responsible for everything that goes wrong” statements from Democrats. The GOP can use those statements in 2004, when the economy’s soaring and the war aginst Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein has been immensely successful.

David Weigel says that Bush’s re-elect numbers show that he’s in great shape for re-election.

There’s a new, independent, Louisiana Senate poll that, I think, is quite accurate. When registered voters are considered, it shows Landrieu leading Terrell 45-31, with 22% Undecided, Don’t Know or Won’t Say. However, when likely voters are weighted by demographic, Terrell leads with over 50%. One interesting number from the poll is that blacks plumped [...]

Looks like the pollster who did that Louisiana Senate poll showing Landrieu with a 16 point lead over Terrell is uncomfortable with his numbers. You can see my post on the accuracy of the poll here.

I pointed out before the elections that the Wellstone memorial rally would hurt Democrats everywhere: It’s hard to overstate the impact of the Wellstone rally. Conservative talk radio hosts have been playing it up all day and the Republican base is thoroughly energized. As usual, the pundits, with their liberal D.C-area dinner party friends, have [...]

Finally, an independent poll on the Landrieu-Terrell matchup in Louisiana. It shows Landrieu leading 50-34. Before you give up on this race, it’s worth noting that this poll’s accuracy is very suspect because: 1. It estimates that 28% of voters will be black. Black turnout has usually been 23-24%, reaching 26% when David Duke was [...]

The numbers show that the economy is doing better than expected. Call me nuts; but I think that the clear GOP victory on election night will do a lot to propel the confidence of American enterpreneurs and send growth soaring in the next couple of quarters. Witness how the success in Afghanistan did the same [...]

Al Gore is the latest to take on conservative media outlets: “Fox News Network, The Washington Times, Rush Limbaugh—there’s a bunch of them, and some of them are financed by wealthy ultra-conservative billionaires who make political deals with Republican administrations and the rest of the media …. Most of the media [has] been slow to [...]

Wonderful article in FrontPage Mag on Democrats’ willingness to say anything to win: “After 1964 and before 1992, the Democrats lost five of six presidential elections, including three landslides. Their positions had become so unpopular that the term “liberal” became an epithet of derision. The party’s options were to change its core beliefs or to [...]
