Reducing the rate of growth in the most absurd and inefficient spending programs is an epic battle, against frenzied legions of beneficiaries who are passionately uninterested in hearing about anyone else’s tax rates or unemployment levels…

Exactly and the reason I thinkg the Democrats have been plotting for 40+ years to make as many people as possible dependant on the government. The only reprieve was when a Republican controlled Congress made the DemocRat Clinton sign welfare reform. To me it’s absolutely absurd and demaenaing to have 50% of the population not pay any taxes at all. everyone who benefits should pay even a small amount but, because they don’t pay they don’t give a damn about those of us who do pay. Welcome to Venezuela…This is exactly how Chavez did it!

Shortly after the cap and tax vote, Pelosi and Waxman were exposed as having made major contributions to some of the fence sitters. It was a very close vote, same as this one, so undoubtedly votes were bought here as well.

And fyi, lefty troll, if this nonsense had 70% public support, it'd woulda sailed through with AT LEAST 70% of the votes, and wouldn't require vote-buying. Even CNN's polling is showing the mainstream is against ObamaCare.

Check the data.

Cap and tax, and ObamaCare. Those are some votes you don't wanna be taking into a swing state election.

When the American people wake up, it may be too late to stop the bloodshed. Read The Emerging Order by Jeremy Rifkin. The leftists really, sincerely believe they need to control us in order to prevent a right-wing, Conservative, Christian dictatorship like the Taliban from taking over...

Little do they know or care that they are destroying America in the process. If "Freedom of Speech" means they have to allow us to speak then they are happy to do away with it...

May God have mercy on us all.

Don't be fooled by Dems who opposed Obama care. They met in a back room and decided who got to vote against this bill. The Dems who voted for Pelosi but against Obama care are just as guilty. Also, watch for Dems who were promised positions if their vote for Obama care leads to defeat in 2010. There were deals made to get these votes and they should be outed if they get big money jobs after their defeat.

Invalid10, the Republicans did the right thing. I am certain that Pelosi would have found 218 votes even if Stupak's amendment went down since those 'Blue Dogs' that supported the amendment had already agreed to vote for the final package as long as they got a vote. So, at least the pro-life cause got a reasonable plank in the amendment rather than nothing. In fact, passing the amendment will cause great heartburn in the Senate as the Boxer/Kerry/Schumer pro-abortion forces have to face off against the 'pro-life' forces in their own caucus.

Yes, this is good news for the Republican/Conservative/Libertarian/Tea Party Party.

The passage of some modest healthcare reform, which 70% of the public want, will surely be the undoing of those politicians that support it because of a reason . . . or something.
